Welcome to another blog post on freebies and free stuff for writers. We’ve recently discussed how to get lots of free stuff just for writers including apps, books, and more, and now it’s time for something for those of you who mail lots of stuff. Today’s entry is about how to get a free premier membership from UPS.
So how does this work? The membership is an upgrade from the standard free My Choice membership which offers alerts, a planner, the option to sign for packages online, and more. The free upgrade gives you all the benefits of the standard membership including unlimited reroutes and rescheduling, as well as a confirmed delivery window.
Freebies for Writers: The Good Part
Unlike some other freebies that may come with hidden costs, this one has none. You will get one year free of this premier choice. You don’t even have to enter a credit card if you follow the instructions below.
Freebies for Writers: The Bad Part
The downside to this freebie is that you may never need it, or if you rarely or never do business with UPS. There is also an auto renewal that is automatically checked and must be unchecked if you don’t want to get billed next year.
Freebies for Writers: The Verdict
I would recommend using this freebie for writers if you do a lot of selling over the web of your books and such. The ability to track the packages easily is also a pro, especially if you’re moving lots of goods. If you sell next to nothing and mostly receive packages, this might not be for you.
Freebies for Writers: How to Get it
To get this freebie:
1. Create an account under the Premium Membership tab on UPS.
2. You will then be prompted to enter your contact info, including email and phone number.
3. You will then be asked to enter your credit card information. DO NOT ENTER IT unless you want to. Instead, enter this code under the Promo box: BJF1B7LE9
4. All set to use your new membership!
To cancel the auto-renewal option on this freebie for writers:
1. Log into your account
2. Go to the Tracking tab on top and click Access UPS My Choice under the dropdown menu.
3. On the top right, click on the Preferences tab.
4. Under the first row, Membership Information, click Edit.
5. Uncheck the box with “I want UPS to automatically renew my membership”
6. Click Save Changes, and you’re done!
It is unclear when these freebies for writers expires.

Once again you have come through with something I’ve never heard about and may need. This is a saver! Thank you for posting. I wish you had a share button here so I could tweet it.
